WBSC lands Mizuno Sponsorship for Historic 2014 World Congress in Africa
The World Baseball Softball Confederation was established in April 2013 by the IBAF and ISF Congresses.
TOKYO - The world governing body for baseball and softball, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), has announced a partnership with the Osaka, Japan-based Mizuno Corporation, establishing Mizuno as the Official Sponsor of the first-ever World Baseball Softball Congress, which will be staged in the North African city of Hammamet, Tunisia on the 10th of May.
"The WBSC is proud and privileged to partner with a globally recognised and leading sports brand like Mizuno, with whom International Baseball and Softball have grown and developed worldwide over the last five decades," said WBSC co-Presidents Riccardo Fraccari and Don Porter.
"We cannot think of a more ideal partner than Mizuno for reasons of posterity and to help capture the historic nature and significance of the first-ever World Baseball Softball Congress -- and the global evolution in baseball and softball that has led us to this historic point," the co-presidents added.
Delegates from WBSC's 200+ National Federations -- who will be converging in Hammamet from 141 countries and territories around the world -- will be provided with Official WBSC Apparel supplied by Mizuno.
Mizuno will also deliver unique WBSC-branded promotional/display items to produce a Baseball-Softball theme and stage for the 2014 World Baseball Softball Congress.
The Tunisian Baseball and Softball Federation -- in collaboration with the Tunisian Ministry of Youth, Sports, Women and Family -- was selected last month by the WBSC Interim Board to host the 2014 World Baseball Softball Congress, which will elect the first WBSC President and Executive Board.
Never before has a World Baseball (International Baseball Federation) or a World Softball (International Softball Federation) Congress been organised on the continent of Africa.
