26th World Children’s Baseball Fair 2017
Gets Underway on August 8 in Yokohama
80 Children from 11 Countries/Regions to Assemble



Sadaharu OH 77, President of the World Children’s Baseball Foundation (WCBF) and former Tokyo Yomiuri Giants great who slugged 868 carrier home runs, in announcing the 27th WCBF in Yokohama City for 9 days from August 8 to 16 hoped that this baseball event will set the stage for children to learn to take on challenges in life. The program is hosted by WCBF and Japan Amateur Baseball Association (President, Norio ICHINO).

Every Year, says President OH, we receive letters from parents saying such as “Our child has become very positive and proactive!” or “Our child has returned home with a strong and confident spirit.”…. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, baseball and softball will be played at Yokohama Stadium and six nations will compete for the medals…. I am really hoping that the 2020 Olympic Games will be a great success and that this year’s WCBF in Yokohama will set things off to a good a good start.

World Baseball Softball Confederation President Riccardo Fraccari congratulates the event by commenting: “WCBF is extremely proud to support the WCBF, a global platform that uses the teaching of baseball to promote a healthy lifestyle, greater understanding and respect between cultures.”

The girls and boys 10-11 years old will learn from six WBSC’s veteran coaches assisted by players of Yokohama College of Commerce to play baseball and participate in cultural and other sport events to create goodwill and friendship.

The WCBF inaugural event was held in Los Angeles in 1990, and more than 5000 participants - boys and girls of 10 and 11 years old - from 93 countries/regions, have attended this global event.
