United States inflict first defeat on hosts Japan at Under-15 Baseball World Cup: Day-7

The United States bounced back from their defeat to Cuba yesterday to inflict a first loss on hosts Japan at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Under-15 Baseball World Cup in Iwaki.
The Americans triumphed 5-2 to move level with their opponents at the top of the super round table on three wins out of four.
Joining the two nations on the same record are defending champions Cuba, who maintained their impressive form with a 5-2 victory over Panama.
Today’s other super round match saw Venezuela get off the mark with a 5-3 win at the expense of Colombia.
Cuba face Venezuela in the first of tomorrow’s matches, followed by Colombia’s encounter with the US and Panama’s clash with Japan.
The top two from the super round will meet in the final on Sunday (August 7), while the third and fourth-place finishers will contest the bronze medal match earlier that same day.
In the consolation round, which determines the final placings from seventh down to 12th, Chinese Taipei ensured top spot with a narrow 5-4 success over South Korea.
Australia are second thanks to their 25-11 victory over New Zealand, while Czech Republic remain in third spot despite losing 9-4 against Mexico.
Tomorrow’s fixtures in the consolation round see New Zealand go up against South Korea, Czech Republic meet Chinese Taipei and Australia face Mexico.
