Taipei City to host II IBAF 12U Baseball World Championship
12 Teams to compete in Tournament in Summer of 2013

Taipei City is going to host the II IBAF 12U Baseball World Championship in the summer of 2013. The success of the tournament, held for the first time in 2011, was the key factor to select Taipei for the second consecutive time. Deputy Mayor Timothy Ting and IBAF President Riccardo Fraccari jointly announced the decision on Saturday.

The 12U Baseball World Championship in 2013 is going to be played with 12 teams. Taipei City is an important partner of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF), having hosted many IBAF events in the past. 12U is the prime category for youth baseball, as it is the foundation of baseball growth and development.

In July of 2011 Chinese Taipei won the inaugural edition of the 12U Baseball World Championship, defeating Cuba in the Gold Medal Game in front of a sellout crowd of 9,235 in attendance at Tien-Mou Stadium in Taipei City. Venezuela finished in third place, in front of Mexico, Japan and Brazil.

More information about the II IBAF 12U Baseball World Championship will be published in the coming months at www.ibaf.org.
